With fall just around the corner, we are gearing up for our Annual PARC Branch Meeting.  This year, we will be offering a wonderful opportunity to network through a “Look at Sustainability Efforts and Environmental Safety Practices on the University of Maryland, College Park Campus.”  Topics will include:

·        Sphagnum moss water treatment system at Eppley Recreation Center

·        Community Learning Garden

·        Solar panels on Regents or Terrapin Trail garages

·        Green roof at ESJ-LTC

·        Green Facade project at Animal Sciences building

Please mark your calendars for Monday, October 23rd, beginning at 9:30 a.m.  Guests will park in the Visitor Parking area at the Stadium Drive Garage, and assemble at the Arboretum Outreach Center.  We will begin with a brief opportunity to network with Branch members prior to the Workshop and Walking Tour, followed by lunch on your own at The Diner (Dining Hall) or any of the fast food opportunities within the Stamp Student Union.

UPDATE:  For those interested in lunch at the Diner, cost is $12.95 for a wonderful buffet of foods to tempt every palette, and will include a presentation by the Dining Hall Manager on the University’s efforts to make dining eco- and sustainability-friendly, along with programs to feed the less fortunate among the College Park community.  We encourage our members to join this presentation over lunch!

For anyone interested, we will have a PowerPoint presentation available at the beginning of our meeting highlighting many of the beautiful gardens throughout the Campus.  A walking tour of these will follow lunch for those wanting to take a stroll throughout the Campus.

CEUs are pending should you wish to go this route.

COST: $30.00

Deadline to register will be Monday, October 16th.

We look forward to seeing you at this wonderful venue and encourage you to join us!
