  • Susan Potts, MS, CTRS, Therapeutic Recreation & Accommodation Services Manager, Howard County Recreation & Parks

Description:  This training will “Focus” on Cultural Arts Programming in the Recreation industry.  This 3-part training will cover trends, current programs and an overview of cultural arts programming for the Therapeutic Recreation community.  Eliot Pfanstiehl, founding CEO Emeritus of Strathmore Music Center in Bethesda will give an update on arts activity in Maryland and discuss State Arts funding mechanisms.  He will discuss current trends and operations in the cultural arts as well as recreation partnerships and suggested new initiatives in arts and recreation.  Danielle Bassett, Adult & Cultural Arts Programs Manager for Howard County Recreation & Parks will cover the Cultural Arts Plan for Howard County Recreation & Parks.  She will discuss some of the cultural arts programs and special events for families as well as sponsorships and how program contracts are negotiated.  Danielle will also go over internal collaborative efforts and outside partnerships that support expanding programming opportunities.  Susan Potts, MS, CTRS, Therapeutic Recreation and Accommodation Services Manager for Howard County will speak about a variety of successful arts programs provided in Therapeutic Recreation such as the ‘No Boundaries’ program, and how it has expanded.
