Standing Out In The Crowd, Marketing & Communications in a Digital Environment (.1 CEU approved)

Presenter: Matt Carusona, CPRP

Program and Communications Director, North Carolina Parks & Recreation Association

Reaching and engaging community members has become a challenge for Recreation & Park departments. Communication has changed, we no longer speak out, one to many. Instead, we now speak, many to many through conversations on various mediums. This change is due to the exponential growth of digital and social media. For all the ways social makes it easier for us to communicate it also creates opportunities for our departments to stumble and face challenges that did not exist 10 years ago.  These challenges are paired with an atmosphere that is increasingly crowded and noisy, make the task of reaching and engaging community members increasingly complicated. Departments need to know effective solutions, tools, and tangible examples to help them navigate the ever-changing landscape of social media and digital marketing. This session will discuss effective strategies and tools to enhance social and digital marketing. strategies to justify investing resources towards this medium, and review tangible examples of successful campaigns.
