Tommy Ross Scholarship - Testimonials

Amber -

Amber is a young lady with many challenges both physical and environmental. She is currently living with her aunt since her mother was no longer able to provide care. She is a very outgoing young lady who due to her disabilities is not able to participate in regular community events. She loves to socialize and make friends. The Friday Night Social Club at Central Special has given her the ability to interact with peers and be active. Without the scholarship that the Tommy Ross so generously gave she would not be able to attend. She thanks you with all her heart. In her own words, “I love to be able to play basketball and talk with my friends. Miss Madi always talks to me. Thanks you.”

Kyle -

Parent Testimonial

Kyle LOVES camp!!!  Every day when he came home he was always excited to tell me about all of the neat things he got to do. His favorite time of the day was music and drama. He always wanted to play on the playground and couldn't wait to sing with his sister for the talent show. He was able to go out on a boat this year and got to go bowling and to the movies! Having Kyle be able to attend this camp allows him to grow and learn through hands on experiences. He is already asking if he can go again next year!

Thank you so much!!!

Kelli

Program Supervisor Testimonial

Kyle did fantastic at camp and had a wonderful experience. To see Kyle grow in confidence and make new friends was spectacular to see. He has grown so much and was a favorite of the staff and other campers.

Thank You for the opportunity to assist the family.

Brian -

Brian is a wonderful young man with Downs Syndrome. He and his mother struggle with some of his social behaviors and the Friday Night Social Club at Ruth Eason allows him to learn appropriate social skills without the stares and the meltdowns that could occur in public situations. His mother also is able to find some respite time for herself. Hi mom stated “Without Social Club both Brian and I would not get any time to ourselves. As a single parent Recreation is the last thing on our budget and this program is a wonder place for him to be safe and learn. The staff is fantastic.”  Brian is doing much better in social situations.

Thank you.
