Gateway to Gold - U.S. Paralympics Talent ID Day

Gateway to Gold is a talent identification initiative designed to help U.S. Paralympics identify potential athletes with Paralympic eligible impairments.  Adaptive sports programs around the country are helping Team USA accomplish this goal by facilitating Talent ID Days.  Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks (BCRP) in partnership with Kennedy Krieger Institute (KKI) has been selected by U.S. Paralympics to host a Talent ID on June 14 (Saturday) and June 15 (Sunday) and we are inviting you to join us as we discover future Paralympic champions.

The Gateway to Gold talent identification event will introduce individuals with Paralympic eligible impairments, including youth, adults and military veterans, to Paralympic sports with hopes of identifying hopefuls for future U.S. Paralympic Teams. As a part of the clinic, prospective athletes will be tested on a variety of skills that can help determine their aptitude for Paralympic sport.

BCRP and KKI coaches and volunteers will record scores and enter them in to a database that will be analyzed by Team USA sport performance teams to determine which athletes show aptitude in particular areas.  This determination may lead to additional opportunities and event invitations for athletes who are ready for the next level in their athletic pursuits.

To guarantee your opportunity to participate in a testing protocol, please complete your registration by Friday, May 30.   To register or for additional information, please contact Robert Signor (Baltimore City Recreation & Parks) at (410) 396-1550 or via e-mail at
You may register the day of the event, but pre-registration ensures that you will be tested.

Additional information may also be found at

This event is free to participants and we encourage you to share news of the event to those whom it may apply.
