Wednesday, April 5
8:30 AM depart the Hotel for Northside Park
9:00 AM - 10:00 AM - Lecture/PowerPoint
Chip Osbourne will focus on the maintenance of Turf and Landscape beds using organic materials instead of chemicals, followed by an outside demonstration.
10:00 AM - 11:00 AM - Outside Demonstration
11:00 AM -12:00 PM - Travel to Cape Henlopen State Park
12:00 PM – 1:00 PM - Lunch at Cape Henlopen State Park
Pat Cooper, Superintendent Delaware Seashore State Parks will provide a general overview of the most-recent National Gold Medal winning State Park system, including policies on fee generation. Provided will be specific details such as parking at the Herring Point Overlook and the rational used to favor hard packed gravel trails over paved trails, including the environmental benefits, cost considerations, and annual maintenance costs for gravel paths. We will also tour the 3 / 4 mile raised boardwalk section of trail, made using metal support posts, floor grates with wooden side rails capped and poly caps.
3:30 PM - 4:30 - Return to hotel
Wednesday, April 6
8:30 AM - Depart Hotel for Northside Park
Staff from the City of Rockville and M-NCPPC - Prince George's Co. will condcut an annual inspection of the interior of the building (assessing floors, walls, finishes, ceilings, roofs, electrical, HVAC, etc). A check sheet will be developed for participants to utilize at building in their home departments.
11:00 AM - 11:30 AM - Travel to Eagles Landing Golf Course
11:30 AM - 12:30 PM - Lunch at Eagles Landing Golf Course
12:30 PM – 1:00 PM - Travel to Worcester County Parks
1:00 PM - 3:30 PM
Bill Rodriguez, Worcester County, will conduct a park tour, highlighting reduced mowing options.
3:30 – 4:30pm - Return to hotel
